#2 of 17 in Historic Sites in Hamburg
Historic Walking Area Architectural Building
Walk the canal-lined streets of the world's largest warehouse complex in Hamburg's Speicherstadt. Head to the Miniatur Wunderland in this iconic landmark, and you'll be fascinated by the largest digitally operated miniature railroad in the world. The district along the Hamburg port features stately Neo-Gothic buildings with trendy restaurants, traditional shops, and fine galleries. You can stroll over the many canal bridges to admire the impressive industrial architecture. To view the district from the water, you can rent a boat to tour the port. • Unbelievable what all to see there. Almost on every corner there is something new to see. A wide variety of museums in a confined space. And then still Elbe Philharmonic Hall.

  • Very interesting, many attractions are located here within walking distance. You can spend a nice day here.  more »
  • Accessible by metro. Really nice to walk between the different bridges in our way to the port and then to the city Centre!  more »

  • There were 5 or 6 different choices for espresso beans, which was quite nice. Usually one might find a choice of only 1 or 2 espresso beans, while the selection is usually larger for filter coffee. The little cookie they served with my cappuccino was quite delicious: a buttery, chocolatey, spicy little morsel. It is a bit loud, but that was fine with me. The wireless works quite well as well.
  • Great experience. Come here for the full coffee experience with production and cafe and shop all in one open space. The selection of coffee is great both in the cafe as well as the shop, but prices are quite high compared. Very serious about the cupping in the cafe though! Great baristas overall!
  • The place offers superb coffee and cakes. It has a nice ambience although it can get really, really crowded and noisy at times. Plenty of coffee-related gifts and merchandises available to purchase for coffee-lovers!
  • Great cake and more important - loads of coffee options to choose from: several different beans and quite a few brew methods. While this is closer to a coffee house than an Australian style hipster coffeeshop, it's definitely worth going. Usually very busy though.
  • Friendly staff even the shop is always busy. Coffee is good and the cake is perfect. (I tried the one with cranberries on top.). Highly recommended.

Where to stay in Hamburg

The most dynamic part of the city is the St. Pauli area, also known as Kiez. This is where tourists and locals brush shoulders among the many bars, shops, and sites. Jungfernsteig, or Neuer Wall, is an upmarket area with brand name shopping and luxury dining. Consider a stay in the bohemian quarters of Altona or the Sternschanze/Schanzenviertel. These areas burst with character and offer out-of-the-ordinary shopping and dining experiences at lower prices.
