  • St. Jacobi is one of the five main churches in Hamburg. It is first mentioned in written sources in 1255. The treskibede Gothic halkirke came to between 1350 and 1400 and the Tower between 1587 and 1589 to came. During the second world war the Church was completely destroyed. St. Jacobi is famous for its organ built by Arp Schnitger in 1693, one of Northern Europe's finest organs in Baroque style. When the organ not went to during the rains in the second world war, it is because the Church Committee had prepared for the worst, and had decorated a room under the Church's Tower, where you stored the historical organ pipes and various works of art. Therefore, it had all the old pipes after the war, although the Church itself was bombed. The organ was last restored 1989-1993. In a side chapel of the Church can be seen the three-winged altarpiece from 1510 devoted to St. Petrus, patron saint of fishermen, and St. Gertrudis, patron saint of the sick and poor. The altarpiece attributed to Wilm Dedeke (1468-1528).

  • The Schnitger organ is one of the oldest and best in Europe. There are regular weekly recitals and it is certainly worth trying to catch one.
  • the Church is like those of the region, rather refined the image of Protestantism advocating austerity. Beautiful bell tower that can be admired in the city centre.
