  • I'm glad I made the u-turn to visit, the stained glass windows are stunning to behold along with the ornate altar and huge hanging effigy of Christ on the cross.
  • This main church situated at the edge of the warehouse district is still worth a visit perhaps not the most spectacular of the Hamburg-based churches, but in their impressive simplicity. And the location to Speicherstadt and HafenCity (where you can park fairly cheap) is simply ideal. On Sunday, a tower climb is possible.

  • St. Katharinen is one of the five major Churches in Hamburg. It is situated on the picturesque by Zollkanal towards Speicherstadt. The Church was first mentioned in 1256. A renewal of the nave was completed in 1450. St. Katharinen was badly destroyed in July 1943. The reconstruction of the church stood on from 1950-1956, and the almost 117 meters high tower was finished the following year. From 2007 – 2013 the Church has undergone extensive restoration and church organ has come to in 2013.

  • Simple interior of the Church in Protestant tradition. On the other hand the rich gold-decorated Baroque Spire.

  • Great Church. The religious services and cultural events are excellent. A look at the calendar of events is always worthwhile. The Church was renovated extensively as well as the Johann Sebastian Bach Baroque organ. The smallest pipe measures a centimeter, the largest more than ten metres. St. Catherine is located at the Speicherstadt and HafenCity, has St. Catherine receive in addition a new Community area to the surrounding residential area and offers many facilities for children and young adults.
