HafenCity, Hamburg

(4.2/5 based on 700+ reviews on the web)
HafenCity is the largest rebuilding project in Europe at 2.2 sq km (.85 square mi). Set for completion between 2020 and 2030, the project involves converting old port warehouses into offices, hotels, shops, official buildings, and residential areas. Visitors who enjoy city planning and innovative architecture can take a guided tour now via bike or foot. You'll see the International Maritime Museum of Hamburg, the Elbphilharmonie Concert Hall, and the Science Center. A change in European Union laws lessened this area's importance as a seaport, leading to the repurposing. Put HafenCity on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Hamburg itinerary builder.

  • If you are in the harbor area and the weather is good you should walk through this area with old building standing along the water. On the way from the harbor up to the City center you will have many ...  more »
  • The HafenCity is a cold and by money. The buildings radiate nothing and the rent is disproportionate. See and be seen. No flair.

  • the port city is architecturally very nicely designed and is currently also in the expansion. There they found a nice mix of old and new. The modern Eingetumswohnungen super complementary with old memories and you can go for a walk there very nice.
