HafenCity, Hamburg

Categories: Neighborhoods, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.2/5 based on 550+ reviews on the web
HafenCity is the largest rebuilding project in Europe at 2.2 sq km (.85 square mi). Set for completion between 2020 and 2030, the project involves converting old port warehouses into offices, hotels, shops, official buildings, and residential areas. Visitors who enjoy city planning and innovative architecture can take a guided tour now via bike or foot. You'll see the International Maritime Museum of Hamburg, the Elbphilharmonie Concert Hall, and the Science Center. A change in European Union laws lessened this area's importance as a seaport, leading to the repurposing. Put HafenCity on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Hamburg itinerary builder.

  • is already impressive, what is installed in buildings here. Prohibitive but unfortunately for up! Too bad the port belongs to but hamburgers and not only for the rich! And it is questionable whether now each gap and surface with concrete and glass must be placed. There you can create a nice Park for walking and recreation for all but also just fine.

  • The HafenCity is a residential area but also with shops, businesses, Elbphilamonie, University and maritime museums newly built close to the river Elbe. A stroll worth always and is always accompanied by new discoveries. I like to do a such tour even when the weather is not so nice.
