HafenCity, Hamburg

(4.2/5 based on 650+ reviews on the web)
HafenCity is the largest rebuilding project in Europe at 2.2 sq km (.85 square mi). Set for completion between 2020 and 2030, the project involves converting old port warehouses into offices, hotels, shops, official buildings, and residential areas. Visitors who enjoy city planning and innovative architecture can take a guided tour now via bike or foot. You'll see the International Maritime Museum of Hamburg, the Elbphilharmonie Concert Hall, and the Science Center. A change in European Union laws lessened this area's importance as a seaport, leading to the repurposing. Put HafenCity on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Hamburg itinerary builder.

  • The HafenCity is already spectacular. It goes best with the line U4 to the terminus of HafenCity/University and goes from there from the direction of Philharmonic. What there has arisen in the last few years is amazing. If interested can see also the building in which Helene Fischer has their condo.

  • Looks like so many port modernization on the West World. (Pseudo) modern architecture, no plants, all paved jogging in trendy clothes and to modern TikiWiki, which seem out of place (beam me up Scottie!). In between Nice shops, such as the "wild Lady" for Frühstück...Aber otherwise rather dismal. The impression is that money is earned, in style, but the soul, if they exist, flat has been concreted.

  • Not only the model railway world, also Spice Museum!, Coffee Museum and many others allow a whole day warehouse district. The dining facilities also fit and it can be combined well with a city tour.
