Get a grasp on blindness at the popular Dialogue in the Dark. As you enter the completely dark exhibition, blind guides will give you a short introduction and instructions on the use of a long cane. They'll then help you explore a variety of darkened galleries, including a public park, city street, food market, boat, and cafe, among others. • I can't begin to express how amazing this was to experience. You are led through a day as a blind person, with many different environments through your day. It brings out the other senses for sure. Th...  more »
  • We have the experience given to dialogue in the dark for the second time. For 90 minutes, you can see the world from the point of view of a blind man. The emotions you go through is amazing. The extremely depressing, helpless feeling gives way to time and one is accustomed to absolute darkness - probably, because we know that it comes out at the end again as looking from the action. One, to a sound room, which is just plain relaxation pure and a tour of the warehouse district expect different everyday situations. The two guides we had so far were sensational!

  • Located in the warehouse district. A very rewarding visit. The idea is simple: in completely darkened rooms blind guides in small groups through the exhibition lead you. The exhibition consists of scents, sounds, etc... Equipped with white canes, you can experience a range of everyday situations from a new page. A completely new experience.

  • Indeed is 'one of a kind'. Booking in advance (over phone, helpline available on weekdays only) recommended for an English tour.
  • Great Experience! We went to the "Dinner in the Dark" and it was worth every cent!
  • Very interesting experience. The visit is well organised and let the visitor experience the point of view of a blind person. The personal there is really kind and very helpful.
  • We have visited this place as a team building adventure and OMG it opened my eyes to how blind people have to but also how they can cope in their environments. I can really recommend it.
  • Great guide and experience. Close to Miniatur Wunderland.

Where to stay in Hamburg

The most dynamic part of the city is the St. Pauli area, also known as Kiez. This is where tourists and locals brush shoulders among the many bars, shops, and sites. Jungfernsteig, or Neuer Wall, is an upmarket area with brand name shopping and luxury dining. Consider a stay in the bohemian quarters of Altona or the Sternschanze/Schanzenviertel. These areas burst with character and offer out-of-the-ordinary shopping and dining experiences at lower prices.
