Get a grasp on blindness at the popular Dialogue in the Dark. As you enter the completely dark exhibition, blind guides will give you a short introduction and instructions on the use of a long cane. They'll then help you explore a variety of darkened galleries, including a public park, city street, food market, boat, and cafe, among others. Where to stay in Hamburg

The most dynamic part of the city is the St. Pauli area, also known as Kiez. This is where tourists and locals brush shoulders among the many bars, shops, and sites. Jungfernsteig, or Neuer Wall, is an upmarket area with brand name shopping and luxury dining. Consider a stay in the bohemian quarters of Altona or the Sternschanze/Schanzenviertel. These areas burst with character and offer out-of-the-ordinary shopping and dining experiences at lower prices.

  • This really was something special. You experience a day in the life of someone with a visual impairment and it is actually quite emotional. I have never seen anywhere else where you can get this kind ...  more »

  • Very interesting experience. The visit is well organised and let the visitor experience the point of view of a blind person. The personal there is really kind and very helpful.
  • We have visited this place as a team building adventure and OMG it opened my eyes to how blind people have to but also how they can cope in their environments. I can really recommend it.
  • Great guide and experience. Close to Miniatur Wunderland.
  • Great experience. You will learn about the world of blind people. How they perceive the world, how they feel it, and what they enjoy or struggle with. Our guide Eve was a wonderful host - answering our curiosities, being fun and helpful during the 1h and a half that lasts the tour. Definitely recommended!
  • Upon entry you receive a white stick, like blind people. Next they put you in complete darkness and guide you through simple life things. Cross the street, identify a vegetable, get on a boat, figure out what car you "see"... It changes the way you think about blind people and their daily struggle. Absolute must go-to-location if you are in Hamburg and have 2h to spare.
