  • We expected a larger exhibition than it is - still nicely arranged and worth the money. do not forget to visit the exhibition on the 2nd floor.  more »
  • The Bucerius art Forum is again worth a visit. There are changing exhibitions of modern painting. Currently, an exhibition about the colourful expressionist Max Pechstein runs here. Rather, a gallery, so spatially cramped. Unfortunately, the Museum opens until 11: 00 and is often quite crowded. Big bonus point: it has - unlike many Hamburg museums - also on Monday opened up. And on Mondays, admission is also cheaper there!

  • We have a guided tour (we were 6 people) from 1 hour through the 2 floors of Max Pechstein exhibition spontaneously booked, because it just launched. Was really informative - and Pechstein is very nice with the many stations of his life, clearly arranged and presented with a great selection. The Museum is centrally located, directly (right) next to the Town Hall, is easily accessible and great to combine with the city (Alster, city...). The Museum does not kills also and is always worth a visit!

  • Quite small place but also right size for a short visit like one hour or so. The paintings were great and it wasn't crowded at all on a Sunday afternoon.
  • Interesting Exhibitions. A little expensive.
  • I enjoyed my visit to the Museum very much. The exhibit was excellent, the staff were very friendly. I could have read through the exhibit titles in German, but I cheated and took the audio head phones in English which gave further details and saved time. I did not visit the cafe, but it looked nice, especially the cakes and coffee. I would visit again on a future trip from Scotland.

Where to stay in Hamburg

The most dynamic part of the city is the St. Pauli area, also known as Kiez. This is where tourists and locals brush shoulders among the many bars, shops, and sites. Jungfernsteig, or Neuer Wall, is an upmarket area with brand name shopping and luxury dining. Consider a stay in the bohemian quarters of Altona or the Sternschanze/Schanzenviertel. These areas burst with character and offer out-of-the-ordinary shopping and dining experiences at lower prices.
