Alster Lakes, Hamburg

Categories: Bodies of Water, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.4/5 based on 750+ reviews on the web
Admire the results of an early dam project at Alster Lakes. The lakes were created in the 12th century when the Alster river was dammed, and they've become a vital component of Hamburg's character. You can wander along the extensive network of waterside pathways that crisscross the surrounding green spaces. You also can cross the bridge that separates the two lakes. Historic buildings dot Inner Alster, which features a 35 m (115 ft) high fountain at its center. For a longer trip, make your way around Outer Alster, where you can take in the city's skyline and photograph its reflection on the water's surface. If you'd like more action, rent bicycles. Boat tours offer a different vantage point. Plan to visit Alster Lakes and other customer-reviewed, writer-recommended Hamburg attractions using our Hamburg trip itinerary planner.

  • Tour the Lake (still seven kilometers) to appreciate all points of view. And take a boat (or a sailing boat) to enjoy the pleasures of water... Pay close attention to bikes that déboulent at a sustained pace and don't embarrass not pedestrians, especially if you have children.

  • Outer and Inner Alster Lake in addition to the many channels explored by ship. Located in the middle of the city, a welcome change is the green of the shore and the blue of the water.

  • Great atmosphere, to explore the view, also is a good place. I individuals in the Alster Lake, outside and running the outer Alster Lake, as the course was perfect.
