(4.7/5 based on 120 reviews on the web)
Don't miss a chance to see some of the most important archeological finds of the past century at Landesmuseum fuer Vorgeschichte, featuring exhibits designed to engage and intrigue visitors of all ages. Founded in 1825, the museum contains a collection of nearly 15 million items. The most notable exhibit is the world-famous Nebra sky disk, the world's oldest concrete depiction of cosmic phenomena, which dates to about 1600 BCE. The bronze disk's inlaid symbols are generally interpreted as a sun or full moon, a lunar crescent, and stars. Explore this and many of the museum's other permanent exhibits, which are arranged chronologically from the Stone Age to the Early Bronze Age, on your own or as part of a guided tour. • Coming of Usedom, Hall was on our route. Opportunity to see the NEBRA sky disk once. We didn't hold on us that a next home was still in front of us. Then the wonderful exhibitions captured us. The Museum is a very good example, how you can present interesting and appealing Collections. The exhibition runs from the start of the stone age up to the Roman Empire with incredibly many artefacts. Great wall with the stone hatchets "Stone hatchet rain", the shaman, the Gold Cup by Krottorf, beautiful pieces of jewellery, explanations of the Teutonicism, finely decorated ceramics... Of course, the coronation is the sky disc. In the dark room you see them in a glass box, well lit, by both sides. Interesting is also the short film about the history of the sky disk, of robbery excavations to the exhibition at the Museum. A real thriller! Now, we have been but two hours in the Museum and could do everything on it. It is one of the most beautiful museums we have ever visited.

  • The "War" exhibition as well as the current special exhibition to the Alchemy demonstrate the outstanding competence of this Museum and its management. It is always a very instructive pleasure to follow the explanations of experts.

  • Small and beautiful Museum with the cultural heritage of "Nebra sky disk". Should you look at, if you are in the vicinity.

  • Very nice Museum. Great special exhibition "War". The only negative point: the guards pursued a, da photograph prohibited is. I feel very uncomfortable, that is more or less permanently monitored.
