  • The visitor reception of the francke foundations is located in the former residence of August Hermann Francke. Here, there are plans, tickets to the Museum facilities (€6), guided tours and audio guides to borrow. The impressive building complex of 40 facilities, as well as the gardens on the Foundation site of about 14 hectares invite also outside opening hours to visit the ancient city of the school. 4 thalers and 16 Dimes in the donation box moved to 1700 August Hermann Francke to establish a school town, which developed into one of the most important Protestant educational institutions in Europe within a few decades. For the first time should a structured education system here children independently promote their social status and through comprehensive education establish the society for a responsible life in the services. Francke schools were modeled for the Prussian school system. The thriving city of school already had valuable teaching collections in the 18th century. in 1698, the Chamber of art and natural history for the teaching of realities of schools was applied to Francke and shows approximately 3,000 natural products in original and richly decorated collection cabinets, which were specially created for this space engraver Gottfried August Gründler (1710-1775) from 1736 to 1741 of the Altenburger today the former dormitory of the orphan boys in the historic orphanage. Also, the orphanage houses changing exhibitions. The library was founded at the end of the 17th century as a public institution. In the old stock contains about 50,000 books to all areas of the knowledge of the early modern period. Since 1728 the books in a purpose built commercial buildings are housed, whose original Mobiliar with the shelves like a backdrop in the room has been completely preserved. This scenery library presents itself after the renovation in the late 1990s again today in their impressive form in 1746. We ran only on their own for the grounds and refused to visit a museum. But this is already very impressive and ends up to be like to bow before the Francke monument in awe.

  • We have the Franck ash foundations without leadership, that is, explore on your own. Already on the outside, the whole complex is very impressive: I've never seen such a high and large timber-frame houses. The video exhibition at the Francke House is great. Different personalities get a closer the work and the talents of Hermann August Francke. Personally was impressed very much and deep: over three hundred years ago, the man was a master builder, pharmacists, PR promoter, politician, media professional and teacher in one person. Most notable: the deeply devout Christian was not a sanctimonious Pope, but very pragmatically inclined - he is the inventor of the modern teaching of view of.

  • Interesting exhibition of the German education system. In particular the curiosities Cabinet has positively surprised me. But also the other history of the Foundation is exciting and was largely unknown to me.
