An open-air venue, LWL-Freilichtmuseum showcases the skills and lifestyles of the Ruhr region craftsmen--the focus is on the pre-industrial age. Observe the processes of paper and leather making, traditional fabric dyeing, beekeeping, beer brewing, bristle production, rope making, and many more crafts. The tour wanders around traditional buildings and ends at a rustic tavern, where you can replenish your strength with a meal of sausages and beer. Others like the lovingly crafted furnishings and decorations of the buildings. The shown machines and production processes are valuable for technically interested persons. The well-made, many events are also worth a visit. I like the "total package". I always like to visit this museum.

The open-air museum is great, offers something for everyone. Of course, should be present some interest in old mechanics/engineering or the life of the "past", but the tour itself, spacious and very beautifully, is already of high quality. A great - and certainly one of the most attractive investments in Germany.
Ich finde die alten Häuser sind sehr schön eingerichtet wir waren auch bei einem Stück der Hildegardis-schule (Sommernachtstraum) more »I find the old houses are very nice decorated, we were also in a piece Hildegardis-schule (Midsummer night's dream)
Daniel KarzelekA charming place for everyone. It is a large site with 18/19-century houses. You can see much there, experience, and information. We have allowed us time on the day to read a lot and sometimes the soul to relax! It is a quiet place with many homemade and local products such as honey, beer, bread... It was a great experience and the things that we tried were very tasty! We would visit there again drive. You should allow at least 3 hours to look at a lot alone.
Daniela ScholzWe were now the second time here. Now, we've seen the whole actions, the offerings are in the season. Very interesting and you always learn something new. For children, there is a great playground where they can try out. Our highlight is always fresh bread or also the delicious mustard from the swords to buy mill.
Haiko F.Super, exciting and informative. Very nice employees. When continuous rain, sure not a nice goal but a shower can easily sit out in one of the houses.
Carsten WendtSuper great Museum. Is recommended to take what the super delicious bread here. A family trip is always worth it.
