Nordturm der Marktkirche, Goslar

(95+ reviews on the web)
Church
An almost castle-like church built in the 11th century, Nordturm der Marktkirche is known for its stained glass windows from 1250, nine of which depict scenes from the lives of the two church saints, Cosmas and Damian. Admire the ornate design of the 16th-century baptismal font--but don't forget to look up to see its matching lid suspended from ceiling. Hike up the 230 steps of the church's north tower, and you'll be rewarded with panoramic views of the town and surrounding area. A visit to Nordturm der Marktkirche represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Goslar trip builder to plot your vacation.

  • The Church belongs to the "open" churches in Goslar. For information about the Church, its history and special features, there are flyers in different languages and also guest relations that are approachable. A place of tranquility exists outside of religious services or church concerts. Tower climb, which allows a wonderful view of Goslar is a highlight for little money.

  • Be sure to visit! From the Tower there is the best overview of Goslar. The steps are numbered all the 231, then one stands at the top and enjoy the view. Please note that directly over a Bell proposes and it can be very windy. Then get one level deeper and see out of the Windows, which can also be opened.

  • The organist seems to play for several hours each day for his own pleasure on the organ. The interior of the Church is typically Lutheran Spartan but with a beautiful painted pulpit. Fantastic!
  • Located in the heart of Goslar, the Church can be climbed. Nice view for little money on the old city. Worth watching...
