  • After the end of hostilities in May 1945, the United States dismantled their troop strength constant until 1949 only about 79 000 American soldiers in Germany were. From the remaining units, one made Constabulary units (German: military police), which took over in July 1946 the surveillance of the border to the Soviet zone of occupation. For the history buffs in the old West Germany and East Germany an important building block.

  • The Memorial is very nicely designed. You can get the look-out Tower. There is very informative exhibitions about the time in which the Americans Alpha operated the OP federigeren in two barracks. Even a few tanks, trucks and helicopters are exhibited. It is definitely worth a visit!

  • We are the extra tour "point Alpha" wandered the high Rhoeners (very nice hiking trail - to recommend!) and were on the "path of hope", the "House on the border" and "point Alpha" past. It was an impressive visit, which once showed more, must you be but how grateful, to be a child of freedom. The history of the inner German border is here beautifully worked.

  • The site i ssplit into two with parking at either end but easy pleasant walk between them. Soviet side is mainly indoor museum but is well laid out. Only gripe was that a guided tour was going around and the leader shoved us out of the way at one stage but we weren't sure if this was an official tour or just a bus party. The american side is a former base and has been preserved along with both indoor and outdoor exhibits. There is also a cafe/restaurant on site in the former canteen for refreshments.
  • Informative in both english and german.
  • Very good Museum. It is informed about the German - German Division. The vehicles of the Eastern bloc missing because it has acted to an Allied base. It should tighten weatherproof clothing. There you must walk to visit both parts of the Museum, a scarce kilometres on the old borders.

  • It was very cold this time of year, it's not so good in the cold. In the summer but determined better. The witnesses were very interesting.

  • Snack bad value for money. Otherwise you miss more vehicles of the NATO and Warsaw Pact. Of East Germany as well as a vehicle to see
