Riessersee is a German lake located in southwest Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The lake itself hosted the speed skating events and 10 of the 37 ice hockey games for the 1936 Winter Olympics. Adjacent to the lake, the bobsleigh events took place.Bobsleigh trackOriginally constructed in 1910, the track was renovated in 1933 and was 1525m long. Costing RM 155,000 to complete, the track was used for the 1936 Games. Having seven different seating locations, the track could seat 17,940 and the events were sold out during competition. The track was demolished in 1966. Remnants of the track can be seen on sleigh rides near the lake.No turn names are given for the track.Besides the 1936 Winter Games, it also hosted the FIBT World Championships in 1934 (four-man), 1938 (four-man), 1953, and 1962.

  • This former GRAND hotel has it deserves to exist. For this, but probably too little capital seems to be available. The staff will endeavor (exceptions prove the rule). Age and new WIND apparently don't seem to harmonize. I wish you good luck for future.

  • Just a kitschy postcard. Nature surrounded by profound silence... we have enjoyed it. What should you write about a Lake? Just go and make holiday :)

  • When you're in Garmisch, the visit of the huge Lake is very recommended. Above the village with views of the Zugspitze massif, you can really come to rest. The small seaside resort is absolutely recommended, not only for the bathe, but also on one spritz or similar. Too bad that it is probably the last season of the current Pächter Putzi and Uwe, who met with her love of this locality. Also located on the Lake restaurant is rated regarding the food, however, very different...
