  • Did the "kings way" from Elmau. Really recommendable, we did the "enhanced" version with the steep hike after the Wettersteinalm plus the Kälbersteig down. You need good hiking shoes and water/food. W...  more »

  • I slept there for one night and I paid 20€ for sleeping room which shared with 6 people and an awesome breakfast. It was nice place to visit and it's not so hard to hike
  • I was more impressed by the nature around than the palace. It is surrounded by picturesque mountains and an easy broad road leads to eat, which is good for mountain bikers.
  • I like the Satellite high altitude alpine garden in Schachen.
  • Absolutely worth seeing! But only for perennial hiking * inside. Overwhelming the views and the first floor.

  • You come to the King's House on Schachen either on foot or by bike. Both versions change. However, you are rewarded with a beautiful view. You should look at be sure the Royals on a guided tour! While the ground floor is still rather hunting lodge, comes the absolute madness in the first floor. The Turkish Salon is awesome! In a harem-style Louis settled here in an Oriental fairy tale put. Peacock feathers, sofas, soft lighting and a-ton hanging lamp can be a doubt whether it is really still on 1800 meters in the Alps. A genuine Louis shut! Definitely not to be missed, you should also Belvedere reachable with a short walk! A panorama of dream in the Reintal Valley, Alpspitze, train pointed blade and the entire Wetterstein massif. Wonderful! Below is the Alpine Garden, an offshoot of the Botanical Garden, which should be viewed also in any case. Beautifully arranged with mountain flowers of all high regions of the world. Avoid you should visit on the anniversary of the birth of the Kini. There, the rush must be but huge...
