(4.6/5 based on 180+ reviews on the web)
Feel like you're on top of the world--or at least on top of Germany--at Aussichtsplattform AlpspiX, a floating steel platform just above the top station of the Alpspitzbahn lifts. This securely fixed structure, laid out in an X shape off the cliff of the Alpspitz mountain, allows you to walk out 25 m (82 ft) to experience breathtaking views from a 1,000 m (3280 ft) vertical drop. If you're brave enough to walk to the end, you'll be rewarded with an unrestricted panorama of the snow-covered Zugspitz down to the untamed Höllental Valley. You can combine journeys on a number of hiking trails with your visit to the platform. • Directly at the cable car station, is located about 5 minutes walk the Alpspix observation platform. Sensational views to the Valley on two far ausladenen curved steel beams balconies. Madness! Directly with the cable car up to the Osterfelderkopf or cross corner train to the top and then on foot over the high alpine pasture to Osterfelderkopf. Next to the gondola lift station, be sure to try mountain restaurant the homemade roast pork with red cabbage and dumplings!

  • I've done the glass boxes at the Willis (sears) Tower and I'm not afraid of heights, but this platform certainly pushes that limit. The metal grates that you walk on allow you to see the valley below ...  more »
  • Ramp on which will appear under the legs 1 km deep abyss is nothing for the faint-hearted. In the wind is the "rocking".

  • spectacular view of the mountains and the depth/height when on the platform. Definitely worth a visit. The platform itself is for free
  • Gorgeous view, the platform wasn't as scary as I thought it would have been.
  • Great views. Nice walks for every level. The X platforms are a must!
  • Madness, pure and simple madness... Not for the faint of heart.... Beautiful views though. :)
  • Exceptional views of the highest peaks in Germany, even if the platform itself is not a nice addition to the landscape.
