Reaching 2,628 m (8,622 ft) at its peak, Alpspitz is famous for its pyramid-shaped summit and jagged crags. Hiking here is not for the timid; many of the routes are for more advanced mountaineers or experienced climbers, as the ascents are often steep and rocky--however, you can find a few paths appropriate for the whole family. Consider trying mountain biking, paragliding, or even sliding down the mountain on a 1,000 m (328 ft) long slide. The Alpspitzbahn offers a ride up for those who don’t wish to conquer the mountain on foot. For travelers who use our custom trip planner, Garmisch-Partenkirchen holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Alpspitz and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.
