  • The fountain lane joins the Schrannenplatz, where in the middle ages, the urban grain market brought together citizens, farmers and retailers. The late Gothic granary with a small watch tower on the South side of the square was built in 1483, as announced an inscription on the façade, and served as a grain warehouse between the market days. After the building for decades had acted as Feuerhaus and emergency vehicles at its exit through the narrow streets of the old town had "shaved some Café seating", was otherwise housed the Fire Department and opened a market Hall in the gothic vaults on the ground floor in 1998. Buy, try and go up - the offer of the market stalls ranging from organic baked goods fresh fish to Feinkosten, from Oriental delicacies of fruit and vegetables up to Weinspezialitaten. On Saturday, the lounge is a popular meeting place for guests and locals.

  • When one comes almost every year after feet like me, one remembers like the opening of the market Hall in 1999, an AHA effect, many market stalls offered the products of local and international food, in the meantime much has changed and many of these estates have been converted today in tasting stands for economic reasons, so that it actually covered should say something , it has become a dining and refreshment stand. You can but not negative see the whole, purchasing behavior has also changed in recent years in our society, it must be cheap and ultimately the tenants have to sell this with they can achieve revenue. And food and drink is always. On my last visit, I noticed that the small PILS pub in the corner is gone, good that there are still the fish stand and a couple small traders hold that. I'm trying with my small purchases to continue to support these traders. Because market is a place where goods are traded. Most of the images that run here have nothing to do with the market hall and the Feuerhaus.
