  • 1159, Cathedral of Freising Cathedral St. Maria and St. Korbinian of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising was built on a hill at the site of the previous building. 1723/24 it was transformed by the ASAM brothers in the present form of the late Baroque (the long market Street was just below). Of particular interest is the old, Romanesque crypt of under the Cathedral's first church building, each column is different, and that small capitals are finely worked. An atmospheric church. A terrace next to the courtyard offers a beautiful panoramic view of the surrounding countryside.
