Bachle, Freiburg im Breisgau

(4.4/5 based on 460+ reviews on the web)
Supplied by water from the Dreisam River, Bachle are a notable characteristic of the city. First documented in the 13th century, the narrow waterways were used as a water source and helped to fight fires. In the 19th century they were moved to the edges of the roads from their original position in the center to make way for traffic. Today, the clean water flowing through the ingenious channels is enjoyed by children at play in the summer months. Unless you're ready for love, be wary of stepping in the water: An old superstition says that an accidental step into it means you'll be marrying a Freiburger. • To watch the tourists as they marvel at the Bächle is also much fun that adults behave in the water like kids, well.

  • to find more or less everywhere in the old town. Makes the otherwise rather unspectacular city somewhat cozy. Great idea

  • The Freiburg Bächle is a landmark! He is fascinating for anyone looking out and Geschichtsträchtig. There is even Bächleboot for the children, which is also already inextricably part of Freiburg. The legend States that accidentally exits a woman at the height of the Town Hall in the Bächle, so she will marry a Freiburger Bobele.
