Kleinmarkthalle Frankfurt, Frankfurt

4.5
#1 of 17 in Shopping in Frankfurt
Rebuilt after a bombing in 1944, the building that houses Kleinmarkthalle Frankfurt is more functional than beautiful--but the market within draws food-lovers from all over the world. Wander past the vibrantly colored stands of fruits and vegetables, past the butchers and bakeries, and try not to get just a little bit hungry. Sample some local wine, or peruse the imported delicacies from around the world. Look for the crowds that form around lunchtime, and join them in line for a taste of homemade potato salad, sausages, or grüne Soße, a local specialty made from hardboiled eggs, sour cream, and a special combination of herbs. Put Kleinmarkthalle Frankfurt and other Frankfurt attractions into our Frankfurt road trip site , and watch your holiday take shape.

It was where I was vibrant and fun. Germany dishes to eat at restaurant MARKT-STUBB on the second floor and had white wine at the wine bar. You can snack with it, bought a ham and cheese on the first floor. There was a sushi bar on the first floor owned by Japanese. Buy cheesecake at cheesecake shop, buy blueberries at the grocery store and enjoyed at the hotel. Cheese you buy souvenirs in Italy grocery shop, bakery I, Apple chips to buy as a souvenir and fun place is more than I expected.

  • Kleinmarkthalle is a definite stop on any tour of Frankfurt. It tends to get very crowded on Saturday, but the variety of food is really great. Great for a glass of wine, a bite to eat, or even your farmer's market grocery shopping. It can be quite hard to navigate at peak hours and on weekends. The stalls are diverse and worth exploring all levels of the hall!
  • Great place for food and atmosphere. The one sausage shop always has a line. Gave it a try and the sausage was one of the best I've had in Germany for flavour and not over salted. The butchers have many Josh and Japanese customers and slice beef or pork thinly for shabu shabu cooking. The greengrocers have decent produce too and it's often possible to try samples at some stalls but it's definitely better to go when less crowded.
  • I love this place! Quaint little market. Don't forget to get some traditional German food at the sausage stall! The seafood section is upstairs.
  • Fresh produce. Great variety of selection. One can find any kind of egg from duck to geese. If it's in season check out the baerlauch pesto stand. And, of course, it's the home of famous Metzgerei Schreiber. Don't miss on the pickles if you stop by.
  • Relaxing out the back of Kleinmarthalle with good friends, wine and appetizers on a sunny Saturday afternoon is one of the better ways I've spent my time in Frankfurt.
