  • Granted, it takes a while to understand the concept of the "new" historical Museum. Because the history of Frankfurt over several floors and buildings is distributed, it is difficult one to keep the thread. I had the feeling I move through a Huckster shops, because scary many exhibits in a small space. Nevertheless, it is interesting and worth a visit. Conveniently located on the Römerberg, you reach the Museum quickly by bus and train. The price of admission is borderline, but still acceptable.

  • With lots of museums to choose from, this one was fantastic. When I visited, the first floor and top floor didn't cater for English speaking, but the middle floor was awesome and compensated for this. There was some extremely moving items exhibited regarding the rough history of Germany. This museum was also close to the main square of Frankfurt. The walking bridge is also nearby, making for pleasant walking. The price of admission was reasonable at 3€ for students. Also had a cool main exhibit using a robotic arm in the foyer. Make sure you keep ahead of the tour groups because it did get a little congested at times.
  • They have a wide range collections of paintings, statues, remains from the old Frankfurt to the World War era and the contemporary ones. Need to spend hours to look at every details. Don't forget to take a look at the souvenir shop. They have beautiful affordable souvenirs. One tip: don't forget to bring student card (if you are a student) you can buy the ticket for €4 instead of €8!
  • The newly reopened museum’s layout is quite disorienting and confusing, and contributed to the unpleasant visit. Among the exhibits, the one on money on the middle floor (level 2 I believe) was the most interesting and logical. Level 1 was the worst, overstuffed with exhibits with no clear context or big picture story. Definitely skip the audio guide. It added nothing to the walkthrough.
  • The museum building is quite modern. The interior is bright, and the exhibition tells you a lot about the history of Frankfurt
  • When we arrived at the ticket counter there were two ladies there both of whom was doing something else and directed us to the other so we had to stand around waiting for about five minutes until one of them finally sold us tickets. In retrospect I wished we'd just turned around and left. The layout of the museum is very confusing; we almost left without seeing nearly half the museum because we weren't aware the other floors existed. They were not clearly signed. About half of what is signed is about exhibits that are "coming soon". It feels like a half finished museum. Several exhibits were broken and not working correctly. There was a periscope looking at a dark tunnel where you couldn't see anything. Perhaps it was supposed to be lit up? There was an interesting display where you could hear chimes from church bells at different times of day, except that the time selector was stuck on 23:00, so you could only hear church bells from 23:00. There were a few interesting parts, particularly the basement area, which took you through interesting ruins, and had a model of how the city looked in the 12th century, but most of the rest of the exhibits didn't seem connected to any sort of common theme or to Frankfurt.
