  • The out of town leading from Opera square tree-lined Avenue crossed the Westend, traditionally the elegant quarter of the bourgeoisie. In the 'APO moving' 70s it was the scene of many street battles as a result of squatting, with whom young people against the demolition of villas by building speculators fought back. As a result, they had quite some success, because many buildings from the Gründerzeit (also not for use by low-income) have been preserved. Also the most well successful middle high-rise buildings, which were built, there be inserted in the present atmosphere.
