#41 of 214 in Things to do in Frankfurt
The top of Goetheturm provides the perfect spot for sprawling views of Frankfurt and the surrounding countryside. Set in one of the city's northern forests, the tower reaches a height of 43 m (141 ft), making it the tallest wooden observation platform in Germany. Climb to the top of the tower to soak in the views before heading back down to spend the rest of the afternoon at the adjoining playground and wooded park. Take a picnic with you, or stop for a coffee at the park cafe. A visit to Goetheturm represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Frankfurt trip builder to plot your vacation.

The Goethe Tower in the Frankfurt city forest was built in 1931 and is 43 meters high. Who wants to climb the pure wooden structure needs some condition, up top, there are 196 steps. However, from above, he is rewarded with breathtaking views of the Frankfurt skyline. On each floor there are benches where you can rest, if you have the condition not to run up the steps in one go. First time top you will find a truly spectacular views of the Frankfurt skyline and the surrounding area. The tower is secured by a network from about the Middle, but at least on the top platform, the mesh is so great that even larger lenses of a mirror reflex insert can be camera through the mesh. At the foot of the Tower, one is situated small excursion restaurant and a playground. Ample parking is available in a few minutes on foot. The Goethe Tower is also from the South Station hour bus route 48 in 20 to 25 minutes every ½. A small bicycle rental is located at the bus stop. It is obvious that the tower for the disabled is not suitable. You can take the wheelchair to the tower. Conclusion: A nice trip with the bus line from the South Station, which I have not regretted.
