Frankfurt am Main Hauptbahnhof, Frankfurt

(3.6/5 based on 2,400+ reviews on the web)
Frankfurt am Main Hauptbahnhof, the Frankfurt central train station, has the most railway traffic in all of Germany--with at least 350,000 passengers traveling through daily. Passengers maneuver through a single level with 24 platforms and 26 tracks, making this possibly the world's largest one-level railway hall. Original construction of this Neo-Renaissance structure was completed in 1888. The newer outer halls are more Neoclassic in style. Announcers call out information in English and German, and taxi drivers typically await train passengers outside. If you're here at night, you'll be pleased to find many shops still open.
