Alte Nikolaikirche, Frankfurt

(4.1/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web)
Relatively small in size but steeped in history, Alte Nikolaikirche was once the church of city leaders and today serves as the home of the local Lutheran congregation. This double-aisle Early Gothic church was mentioned as early as the 13th century, but it is believed that the core of the structure is considerably older. The church is noted for its 47-bell harmonic carillon, Gothic roof gallery, and 14th-century entryway sculptures. Though the substructure of the church's iconic tower was constructed around 1240, the higher stories likely were added during a reconstruction in the 1440s. Throughout the summer months, the church hosts a variety of concerts; visit the official website to see exactly which special events you can attend during your stay. For travelers who use our world travel planner, Frankfurt holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Alte Nikolaikirche and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • The old church of St. Nicholas is situated diagonally across from the Romans. It was written the most interesting facts about here - it is definitely worth a visit.

  • The ancient Church of San Nicolas is located in the historical district of Frankkfurt (Altstadt). Began to build in the 12th century, was imperial Chapel, and is the oldest in the city. It is a church, small, very pretty, with details of red color (characteristic of the German constructions) on a white background. If van to Römerberg it will be faced with their eyes.
