  • Castle Frankenstein was mentioned in the 12th century for the first time. This castle was at this time in the possession of the nobles von Frankenstein. In the war of the Palatine succession, this castle massif was destroyed, so that we know today as this ruin as it is. In the 19th century, this castle in the possession of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate was given and is owned by the State since. In our today's stay we noticed, that the castle ruins was restored a little lately. This castle still has imposing walls with beautiful gothic Windows. Yet the kennel, which has been nearly so well preserved he once looked like is well preserved. In the 15th century, however, the castle had their wedding and was at that time still the best preserved. A walk to the ruins of this castle is definitely worth. You can explore a lot and the ruins also no entrance fee. There is a small parking lot in the town of Frankenstein. from there, you can easily reach the castle in 15 minutes by foot. This castle is a small Pearl in the Palatinate forest and more should be done to rebuild.

  • Castle Frankenstein is Frankenstein in the Rhineland-Palatinate. It is a ruin, which can be visited. After the village to reach, and let the car is parked, we see that there are references to two ways to climb up to the Castle, we have on the way to the cemetery next to gone and to reach a church (there to follow signs and maps the route to the Castle). The road is low to medium level of difficulty and the views from this area of the village and the mountains are beautiful. The trail is very nice. The two ways are through the forest. Once at the top, you can visit the ruins of the Castle, a very interesting visit. The views from here are the best. I recommend wearing hiking boots and don't forget the camera. Free admission.

  • Halloween at Burg Frankenstein runs on weekends during October, usually through the first weekend of November. Zombies, werewolves and other monsters wonder the castle grounds while you walk through. Unlike Halloween Haunt events in America these creatures are allowed to touch you so be prepared! It's most fun in a small group. You park about 15 minutes away (or take the train) and a free shuttle bus takes you to the castle. Fest style themed food and Drink are available on site and it's always busy. Tickets are available online and do sell out. The VIP experience is expensive but includes a buffet and place to sit down. Families are encouraged to go on Sunday. Friday and Saturday and adult oriented.
  • A good hike up the trial and a view of Darmstadt! This is the place to be on Halloween - the best party happens in this old castle. :-)
  • Great to head here during Halloween for their annual open aired haunted castle. Food and drinks via VIP tix!
  • Very nice food in a peculiar environment. The castle dominates the cities around and is itself a beautiful sight.
  • Top notch costuming and themes. Would definitely go back again.
