Ettal Abbey has been in operation as a Benedictine monastery for centuries, following the strict monastic lifestyle while welcoming the public to its community. The basilica that acts as the monastery's main gathering place often hosts religious holiday celebrations that attract large crowds to its domed chapel. Tour the grounds and the majestic basilica, then head over to the Klostermarkt, where you can buy beer brewed by the monks. • Facade and interior of the Abbey Church are quite impressive, probably even unique as almost every church. Yet I find nothing so monumental here, as some reviews suggest. Maybe I'm a Banause on church buildings, but much repeated (necessarily). If the way you come, should definitely plan a stop or take a small detour to.

  • The Abbey is worth may not be a visit on its own, but if you go to the castle of Linderhof then it would be a shame not to stop. The decorations of the Basilica are sumptuous and imposing building. Note that the Abbey houses a high school and a brewery. Don't leave without buying a few bottles of local beer!

  • Were before Christmas-take a ticket by Bavaria on 3 days in Clip-Reisen Bureau, Hanover. Earlier in Bavaria were twice, but they either from the South or East sides of Federal land. Visit Benediktinerabtei Ettal filled part of the first day of sightseeing. Baroque style permeated the entire monastery: marble, wood carving, gilding, canvas paintings, etc. Separate plus point is the surrounding landscape-the air is saturated with the predgoriem Alps. Oh and where do the opinion of Bavarian beer-local Brewery produces several varieties: took the dark, light filtered and unfiltered in its original packaging.

  • One of the must see places in Oberammergau-Garmisch area. In this monastery you can see "Ettal Madonna" a very old statuette of Virgin Mary. In this area you can find also a gymnasium, a cheese factory, a distillery and a brewery.
  • Very nice place to pray. The Rector lowered the miraculous image for our pilgrimage group to venerate it. Definitely would return here.
  • A beautiful stopover.
  • Very rich in history and off the beaten path
  • Small, stunning monastery.
