  • Two times in the week before the Church and market around the Church around the world show the bustle. Often seen as the staircase in front of the Church is what is that key to the Church, which does not give me a break people. Cannot recommend this around the ground is dirty. At Christmas time around this Church also were lined with market.

  • The Church is an oasis of calm in the middle of the hectic and overcrowded Centre of Essen. Once you sit down in the Interior of the old Evangelical Church, the burdens of everyday life fall off of one. The special atmosphere of the new cultivation contributes, who appears in a blue, meditative light. Not only for this reason, the Church is also architecturally interesting. It is the oldest Protestant Church in Essen. In addition to church services there are also readings and concerts take place.

  • Not far from Hoher Dom in Essen is the far less Marktkirche who originally had the name St Gertruds Church, and as such was first mentioned in 1054. The name Marktkirche came first in 1300 century. The 2. may 1563 was the first Lutheran Church Service held in the Church, and the date has since been standing as Essence very own Reformation. The Church was renovated both in 1478 and 1786, 1871-74. During the war years the Church was bombed and completely destroyed, but was rebuilt 1950-52. In the new millennium has been extended with a korparti in the Marktkirche blue glass to the West. It has the effect that the whole of the Church's interior is stained blue or purple. I'm not quite sure that I believe it is successful but expensive has it been, this blue chorus: 800,000 euro were paid when the choir was completed in 2006 and was put into use at a celebration service. Visit to the Cathedral, one must of course also go past the Marktkirche and discover where different churches can be.
