  • The beautiful Cathedral of Erfurt is located at the Centre of the beautiful square, which takes its name from the Cathedral. Dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary – indeed in German has the name Marienkirche-Erfurt Cathedral belongs to the Gothic style. The Church sits atop a staircase that starts from the square: at the foot of the staircase it manages to have an overall vision of the Church, which appears in its Majesty, which is elevated by the fact that there is another Gothic church on the right side of the Cathedral. Going up the stairs and as you approach the Church, you can see the two magnificent portals. The most interesting part of the Interior is definitely the chorus and the visitor's eye popping aspects here are the beautiful stained glass Windows in bright colors (Gothic style) but even more the beautiful wooden choir monks, 17 metres long and made of oak wood and consists of 89 stalls on two levels and on two fronts , inlaid in 1300. The Cathedral is certainly to be included on the itinerary of visiting the city of Erfurt!

  • Great views all around. IN the tiny Café am DOM directly on the steps, there are home-made cakes.

  • I admit that I am somewhat biased in this assessment as a choice Erfurt. That to me but not prevent, warmly to each put a visit of the Erfurt Cathedral square the heart: a magical backdrop in one of the most beautiful cities of in Germany, immediately adjacent to the old town and the Citadel Petersberg. And you should be at least one or two nights to do this yourself, otherwise not do justice to this city and their ensembles and opportunities!
