Domplatz, Erfurt
(4.6/5 based on 280+ reviews on the web)
Domplatz, one of the largest markets in Germany, was once the main market square and Courthouse Square--so a trip here allows you to shop where people have been trading since the 12th century. Enjoy the view of Cathedral Hill and the fortress, or stop and see the Minerva Fountain or Erthal obelisk. Various festivals are held here throughout the year, including one of the largest and best-known Christmas markets in Germany. Several restaurants are sprinkled throughout the area. If you don't speak German well, consider skipping this site; few people here speak English. Put Domplatz and other Erfurt attractions into our Erfurt travel itinerary planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • A must for every visitor in Erfurt. The city has changed the past 25 years to the positive. Renovated downtown. And the Cathedral square is a modern innenstadtmit flair from the South for me. Friendly people and friendly architecture

  • Very significant historically. Parking is a real problem, however. You'll drive around for an hour in order to jump into a just vacated space, just like musical chairs.
  • Toller place many people of Erfurt and visitors from all over Welt.Zur Christmas a Toller Christmas market you need to see.

  • Impressive view of Mariendom and Severikirche, as well as the old town of Erfurt.
  • Pretty nice place. Near Tram stop you can find nice and cheap Thuringer bratwurst for 1,5€. At the corner - supermarket to buy some beers. At the hill at Citadel you can lay down to the grass: drink beer and eat the Bratwurst.
  • The main place in Erfurt where you will find many events and fair during the year, including Christmas market and other seasonal markers and fairs!
  • Definitely highlight of Erfurt, must see.
  • Very big square indeed! It's huge!
