(130 reviews on the web)
Canyon
A canyon that been a destination spot since the Middle Ages, Drachenschlucht is a gorge and series of hiking trails that cut through the forest. The nature area is part of a protected park that offers tranquil walks alongside rugged terrain. Royals once used the grounds as a hunting area, but now the animal life has returned. A castle and hunting lodge dating from the 18th century are still standing and open to visitors. Bring plenty of water and a snack with you for the hike; apart from one restaurant, you won't find any other facilities with water or food. A visit to Drachenschlucht represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Eisenach vacation trip planner to plot your vacation.

  • I have wanders through the ca 3 km-long Gorge on the occasion of my spa in Thuringia, Germany. Am highly driven by bus to the high Sun, and started from there down. The path was part however damp and slippery, man had to fit so. Wild garlic wuchd on the edge of the path, I picked the same. DOE distance uphill is easier difficulty, uphill nix for heart ⚕️ ⚕️ ⚕️

  • Everyone who still consider what you can do in Eisenach. Goes to the Dragon Gorge! Worth a visit for those who can run.

  • Nice short hike through a great landscape. Unfortunately due to the wrong location on this site and the bad signs not very easy to find. Walk from Eisenach in addition to the B19 along (pretty sure to run, because path parallel to the ground) until it is then finally recognizable through the large gate at the start / end point.

  • Awesome little walk through the forest then coming to a beautiful gorge. Track is in go condition with a metal grate path through the gorge over the small creak running through it. From the carpark we parked at it was a shirt easy walk and well worth it.
  • Cool
  • beautiful walk with beautiful rock formations and gap, one of the most beautiful ever done. Please note: for the little walk and so to come back to the parking lot just before Eisenack (not the car park Hohe Sonne), you take the arrow during the Drachenshlucht hiking trail, Eisenach 1.7 km. walking you do straight to get to the car park Hohe Sonne and you must return by bus (3 km.) or through the hiking trail Eisenach 4 km. for large dogs it is best to do with different hoogstes with stairs but that are not style. for smaller dogs are the stairs sometimes when high. take good walking shoes. distance parking Drachenslucht (down) to end of the hike on car park Hohe Sonne (above) is 2.7 km and you do there easy 1 h 30. You can also walk to the gap and go back, there do you more than an hour about it.
