Bachhaus, Eisenach

(4.4/5 based on 190+ reviews on the web)
Serving as a museum to classical composer Johann Sebastian Bach, Bachhaus is a small Eisenach house originally thought to be the birthplace of Bach in 1685. Even though it was disproven, the New Bach Society purchased the building in 1906. Stop here to learn about Bach's life and career through more than 250 original exhibits, including antique musical instruments, a Bach music autograph, and a comprehensive listening room. Concerts occasionally take place here. Check for schedules and tickets on the museum's website. Add Bachhaus and other attractions to your Eisenach trip itinerary using our Eisenach vacation route planner.

  • In this quaint house with an ultramodern addition, Johan Sebastian Bach's life story and impact on music history is illuminated under the very capable curatorship of Dr Joerg Hansen. You can not only ...  more »
  • The entrance to the Bach House is in a new building, the outside does not fit into the image / time of the Bach House itself. Worth seeing is the exhibition with all the explanations. It's just a pity that no guided tours for individuals are offered. A highlight is the approximately 20 minute long presentation of the instruments. In the 2nd floor you then still has that scientifically apart contact to opportunity with Bach. For laymen as well as experts, this is a must. Our recommendation for the Bach House: a must for all visitors of Eisenach.
