Nordpark, Dusseldorf

#3 of 11 in Parks in Dusseldorf
Enjoy the diverse design and tree-lined paths of the historic garden at Nordpark. Originally built as a propaganda exhibition of the National Socialists in 1937, this park is now home to a wide variety of gardens. Explore the geometrically planted flowerbeds, or stroll through the lily garden, which is surrounded by shady columns. Walk along the 170 m (557 ft) long pool with sparkling fountains, or check out the exhibition space where artists display their work. The Japanese garden has a path leading to small bodies of water with an artificial stream inlet, plus a representative ship pier and island. Visit the Aqua Zoo in the park if you like aquariums and fish. The restaurant and playgrounds offer a respite from your walking. • The spacious facility in the suburb of Golzheim is a true resort town near the river Rhine. On the wide paths leisurely walking between magnificent gardens, fountains and well integrated architecture. The Aqua Zoo, the exhibition rooms and the Garden Café complete the inner-city destination. The entire complex is well-maintained landscaping and so every visit is a special experience.

  • This expansive Park is perfect to relax body and mind. Possibly but also time to talk about many things alone.

  • Really nice location, especially when it's warm enough to sit outside under the trees with birds singing all around you. If you have kids, they can play on the playground while you have coffee or whatever. Very nice. The food isn't particularly sophisticated, but hey, if you're in the mood for chips and a schnitzel then it's FINE. Biggest drawback: closes at 19:00 on weekdays. That makes no sense to me.
  • For short or long walk. For relax with a book in a chair under the trees. For sport. Do not hesitate - just go to the Nordpark of Düsseldorf.
  • Very chill and relaxing park in the far north of the city. I suggest visiting it in spring, when the flowers bloom and you can appreciate it in all of its splendour. It has some interesting attractions in it, such as the Aquazoo, the Japanese Garden and the Botanical Garden. The Japanese Garden is a really fascinating gift from the Japanese community of the city and it's extremely pretty, with a large pond, statues and blossoming trees.
  • Nice for grown ups and older kids. For a four year old, the attention span was not too long. I would expect more interractive stuff to do. Better flow and explanation/decoration of the different worlds.
  • I went with my 12 year old son hoping that there will be a play area for this age group but unfortunately there was only play area for smaller children. Park itself is a good place for a walk.
