  • Great building, simply imposing. From the inside, very informative and varied. I lack as a young art Banause, something that makes you want me on this tour. Other museums delight with innovative media, an elaborate presentation or other things. I leave for things inspire me slightly here connoisseurs I lacked that real or Faustbegeisterte come fully at their own expense.

  • It is a pity that the explanations are in German. You can see letters, books, drawings, portraits and personal affairs of Goethe.

  • If you don't know German 4 euros just look at historical documents and art works. Not a single English information.

  • Only in German, even if I understand a little bit it's difficult to read all the papers, otherwise it's a nice palais to visit
  • If you're interested in Goethe, or simply life in the 1700s, pay this museum a visit! (Best visited with a German speaker if you are English-speaking!) The museum is housed in the Jägerhof Palace (Schloß Jägerhof - reached via tram line 707) and contains mementos, letters, object d'art, trinkets, busts, paintings and casts of statues, among others, all somehow related to Goethe and his life. His interests as an anatomist, artist and natural scientist feature as prominently as possible in addition to his work as an author, poet and statesman. There are also paintings of and letters from his contemporaries, including Schiller and Beethoven, but the collection also includes coins struck during his lifetime and a model of his house in Weimar. The upper floor of the palace also has an amazing porcelain collection, as well as period furniture and interior decor. Definitely worth visiting if you are interested in Goethe's life and the period in which he lived!
  • Lovely museum, very quite and nice place to visit.
  • Beautiful building, the color of the walls attracts touring. To see even from the outside.

  • In the Museum Goethe is the third collection on the life of Goethe between 1774 and the 1792. The collection is divided into ten sections that will be showcased manuscripts, letters, portraits and busts made by the artist.

Where to stay in Dusseldorf

The Old City, Altstadt, is the center of the action and offers a number of hotels and guesthouses. For quiet evenings and a view of the Old City consider the Oberkassel/Niederkassel area on the other side of the Rhine river. There is inexpensive accommodation in the Unterbilk area near the university, along with a collection of bars, restaurants, and cafes.
