Landschaftspark, Duisburg

(4.8/5 based on 360+ reviews on the web)
Landschaftspark, once an old, abandoned coal and steel production plant, is now a public park. Woven together by walkways and waterways that are former railway and sewer systems, the ironworks now hosts cultural and corporate functions. You can delve into an old gasometer that now serves as Europe's biggest manmade diving center. Walk through alpine climbing gardens that have been created in ore storage bunkers, or venture on the high ropes course that was once a casting house. For views of the meadows and waterways of the park, climb the extinguished blast furnace--now a viewing tower. Spend some time in the middle of the former steel mill, which has been made into a piazza, or rent a bike to explore the site. Guided tours are available, or you can explore on your own. Children may enjoy the huge tube slide going through two ore bunkers, and the open hall for skating and mountain biking. • North Duisburg landscape park is a really successful industrial monument, which is accessible and in the last century gives insight to the equivalent time of steel production. The imagination of the real world of work at the time is really visible. Explanatory panels and also pre-ordered or. scheduled guided tours in the smaller and larger scope and audience are very informative. Climb a blast furnace, whether when day and night are something special. Free entrance is also catering. The seasons according to several events take place. It is a summer cinema, whose tickets are booked out within hours for about 30 days, or but pre-Christmas lights market etc., always more complete many additional attractions in the Park. It is also a wonderful bicycle goal!

  • The old industrial buildings are worth seeing, if you climbed it on the same level. But it's the best when you Rauf increases the blast furnace of five and from above the walls, pipes and installations. And with a good view over the Western Ruhr area, free and outdoors. Would come back again when the illumination is switched on (on weekend evenings).
