History Museum
Transport Museum Dresden, housed in the historic Johanneum museum, displays vehicles from all modes of transport--including the famous Saxon Muldenthal locomotive from 1861, which holds the title of oldest original German steam locomotive. The attractive building dates from the late 16th century, when it was a stable and coach house for the adjacent Dresden castle. Its permanent exhibition area includes sections dedicated to railway vehicles, cars, trams, bicycles, motorbikes, air travel, and sea travel. Don't miss the informative film that runs every hour on the hour, explaining the history of Dresden and the museum.
