Standseilbahn, Dresden

(4.4/5 based on 80+ reviews on the web)
Built to link the residential area of Weisser Hirsch with the lower-lying Loschwitz district in 1895, Standseilbahn is now a historical monument. Originally steam-powered, the line was converted to run on electricity in 1910. Take the brief ride up the hill, winding through beautiful natural surroundings to peer across the Elbe valley. Though the lower station was destroyed during World War II, the carriages had been stored in the tunnels, keeping them intact. Even if you don't choose to take a ride, the well-preserved cars are interesting to see. Using our custom trip planner, Dresden attractions like Standseilbahn can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • A part of Dresden, which is absolutely worth! A beautiful drive through Loschwitzs gardens. The Aussengsstronomie is closed, open the access to the terrace. It has wonderful views of the Elbe and Dresden. The ensuing walk to line 11 tram is great, past this white deer are old villas and a planetarium, a world of its own!

  • The ride is great and the car is super. Unfortunately, the food is currently closed. Part of the terrace is however open. The viewpoint at the Obelisk not worth too many trees in the way.

  • Trochu krátká
  • Sehr interessante, wenn auch kurze Fahrt. Oben spektakuläre Aussicht!
  • Ride was good
  • Great old funicular. To be precise, the oldest surviving funicular. Just glad that there is still something. Expect a friendly staff and a great view from the top when the weather cooperates.

  • This place in Dresden and its surroundings with its old buildings looks more like mountain town. It's very nice. In the close vicinity of the sde is located two cableways on two local peaks. One railway and one suspended.
