Kunsthofpassage Dresden, Dresden

4.5
#5 of 13 in Historic Sites in Dresden
Historic Walking Area Tourist Spot
Step off the main street into Kunsthofpassage Dresden, and enter a magical space that transports you far from the city, at least for a brief moment. Five small courtyards make up the area, a project completed in 2001 by a small group of artists and architects. Wander through the group of quirky, colorful buildings, each with its own style. Stop into an alternative restaurant or cafe along the way, or pick up a handcrafted souvenir at one of the little workshops. Check online for events. See Kunsthofpassage Dresden and all Dresden has to offer by arranging your trip with our Dresden travel itinerary maker.

Where to stay in Dresden

The Old City, or Altstadt district, is the city's historical center. You'll find a wide selection of accommodations around the major tourist sites. For an area that stays active both day and night, consider lodging in Aussere Neustadt, located northeast of the Old City. The Hellerau District has an urban and hip vibe, thanks to the fashionable young locals who populate the area. Boutique hotels contribute to the area's chic feel.

  • Based on other's reviews I expected more. There were one or two unique shops but most had clothing only in small sizes and crafts rather than art. It took about 30 minutes to explore this spot.  more »

  • Surprising, beautifull and unusuall place to visit. Decorated buildings and ground areas in the passage. Nice cafees to have a drink.
  • Beautiful hidden path. A nice tea place around this area. Give it a try. You will be impressed.
  • The most refreshingly artistic stop of dresden. Each courtyard has somthing special to offer. But the most attractive is the element courtyard whete 'music' is cteated by rainwater running through the interconnected rainpipe attached to the torquoise facade. Definitely a worth visit..
  • the place is tricky to find, but it is worth it. although it was not raining when i visited, a breeze is enough to play music
  • Such a unique place with architectural style and also designer shops...
