Inspirock Rating:
4.3/5 based on 75+ reviews on the web
Built to link the residential area of Weisser Hirsch with the lower-lying Loschwitz district in 1895, Dresden Funicular Railway is now a historical monument. Originally steam-powered, the line was converted to run on electricity in 1910. Take the brief ride up the hill, winding through beautiful natural surroundings to peer across the Elbe valley. Though the lower station was destroyed during World War II, the carriages had been stored in the tunnels, keeping them intact. Even if you don't choose to take a ride, the well-preserved cars are interesting to see. • it not worth 10 euro for 2 persons, except for the view from the top! No restaurant no nothing up there.

  • For car freaks a must: a small funicular railway from the blue wonder up 95 metres. The maximum gradient is 29%.

  • Up the mountain is worth a ride with one of the world's oldest sand cable railway. It is located close to the monorail.

  • Sehr interessante, wenn auch kurze Fahrt. Oben spektakuläre Aussicht!
  • A must for Dresden and visitors! A look at the "old" technology is worth. Amazing, what was possible over 100 years ago.

  • Unfortunately not really worth it. The single ticket costs € 4 and also barely 4 minutes. But has the really good view from above, where one comes without a train out. The ride itself is really unspectacular.

  • Great views

  • On the experience, to ride the historic train, there is not much to discover at the mountain station. The local restaurant has seemingly been longer. Hardly, there are ways for a good view. So you can either back down or run. The Schwebebahn "next door" offers more.
