Dresden Funicular Railway, Dresden
(4.4/5 based on 75+ reviews on the web)
Built to link the residential area of Weisser Hirsch with the lower-lying Loschwitz district in 1895, Dresden Funicular Railway is now a historical monument. Originally steam-powered, the line was converted to run on electricity in 1910. Take the brief ride up the hill, winding through beautiful natural surroundings to peer across the Elbe valley. Though the lower station was destroyed during World War II, the carriages had been stored in the tunnels, keeping them intact. Even if you don't choose to take a ride, the well-preserved cars are interesting to see. Using our custom trip planner, Dresden attractions like Dresden Funicular Railway can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • Away from the Center (because the same Dresden is giant!), there are two historic, but still running and integrated into the transport system of the city, coasters. I do not know which is more charming, because one is considered to be the oldest hanging queue in the world, the second faster, normally climbs to the top of the Rails. Both stations on the tops of the queues are also beautiful. At the foot of the initial stations are located in the same place. However, travel to other peaks. So if you want to take the one and the other have to go quite a big chunk of first downhill then uphill. However, it is not easy, just ask for a leaflet with the selected route. Route connecting the two stations is very quiet and charming as well. I recommend!

  • A ride on the funicular railway is not just for railway fans, because from the top, you have great views of Dresden. Be sure to recommend you. "Blue wonder" can be visited during a trip there just the bridge, lies the very near. It was just a pity that the destination restaurant at the end of the line was closed. But it was possible to enjoy the views from the terrace.

  • Trochu krátká
  • Sehr interessante, wenn auch kurze Fahrt. Oben spektakuläre Aussicht!
  • Ride was good
  • Great old funicular. To be precise, the oldest surviving funicular. Just glad that there is still something. Expect a friendly staff and a great view from the top when the weather cooperates.

  • This place in Dresden and its surroundings with its old buildings looks more like mountain town. It's very nice. In the close vicinity of the sde is located two cableways on two local peaks. One railway and one suspended.
