Zeche Zollern II/IV, Westfalian Museum of Industry, Dortmund

4.6
#2 of 14 in Museums in Dortmund
Here's a fascinating tidbit for the day: This grand old building, now Zeche Zollern II/IV, Westfalian Museum of Industry, was once a coal mine. Natch, the museum focuses on the German coal-mining industry. Admire the impressive "mansion of labor," and study a variety of artifacts from the industry’s heyday. Stories from the 20th-century workers themselves immerse you in the conditions the men and women endured. Children will enjoy the coal-mine play area, but they're likely to get wet and dirty, so bring a change of clothes for them so you all can stop for food or drinks at the onsite restaurant. • Very nice mining terrain and interesting Museum (also to be touched). We have the Zeche Zollern thanks to dysentery. TOP CARD for free visit and explore on your own. The site is very large and you can move around freely, who himself dares can go up the tower and get a great view of the Ruhr area. The special exhibition was also very interesting. Even in bad weather most definitely worth a visit, especially in this year to acquire some knowledge of the mining industry, because the final bill will close this year.

  • The formerly known as ' the Castle work ' designated buildings and others impressed by the finely crafted brick facades and the impressive machine Hall with its Art Nouveau portal. In the buildings you will find many interesting exhibits about the history of shaft and mining in the Ruhr area. Thus, one finds many lamps from the history of mining in the lamp room. You can take some even in the hand, some are very difficult. One should try to seek some hidden things in the cellar vaults, it's worth. Also on the grounds interesting such as the railway wagons and locomotives will find himself, here could be made but in the future maybe even more.

  • An old mining facility leaves with a very interesting Museum the time "in days" are impressively present. The attrakrive plant, much detailed knowledge and also for connoisseurs still new details made almost nostalgic visitors... no later than at the PILS in the beer garden. Also, there is a wonderful view from the tower. This Bill is far more preferable than the overrated in Essen.
