Old Town, Dinkelsbuhl
(4.8/5 based on 360+ reviews on the web)
As one of the only remaining walled medieval towns in Germany, Dinkelsbühl's Old Town paints a strong image of the Middle Ages through its streets, churches, and buildings. In the heart of the Romantic Road, the town was a former free imperial city of the Holy Roman Empire and has remarkably remained unscathed during the World Wars. The charming historic center houses mercantile buildings from the 15th and 16th centuries. Other notable attractions here include the gothic St. George's Minster, the Castle of the Teutonic Order, and the Historical Museum. You can access the town from four of the wall's 16 towers. • Dinkelsbühl is one of the very well-preserved Atstätte in the District of Ansbach. Competition to Rothenburg not represent them, but through the many retail shops points. The retail is displaced in most cities greatly, which hopefully here still is not the case. The market place / the Church / shops / restaurants and Cafés small museum... Invite you to stroll around, whether in winter or in summer. Also Theatre offers it here or Christmas market, children Bill or more cultural. We come here always happy, the people are friendly and you can always something new experience, or even just good food. Because the old town almost completely still with paving stones is you should wear suitable footwear, who then please contact with Stilettos that wants to ruin feet, submit any complaints, one is fault in an "old" shopping city.

  • very nice old town. Definitely worth a visit. A not destroyed City Center invites you to stroll around. Great Christmas market

  • Beautiful city, all with beautiful nooks walled. It is possible to walk all over town (all the wall) in 2 hours. In Tourist Information they provide a map with the road map and explanations of places in Portuguese. Basically one should walk close to the wall in and out of the city, the place that I found more beautiful is the outside where is the Tourist Information. Is very worthwhile! Usually people know Rothenburg ob der Tauber in the same trip, with sure Rothenburg is more powerful, but it's worth a stop in this city too (unless it doesn't work then gets Rothenburg only:)
