Old Town, Dinkelsbuhl

(4.8/5 based on 360+ reviews on the web)
As one of the only remaining walled medieval towns in Germany, Dinkelsbühl's Old Town paints a strong image of the Middle Ages through its streets, churches, and buildings. In the heart of the Romantic Road, the town was a former free imperial city of the Holy Roman Empire and has remarkably remained unscathed during the World Wars. The charming historic center houses mercantile buildings from the 15th and 16th centuries. Other notable attractions here include the gothic St. George's Minster, the Castle of the Teutonic Order, and the Historical Museum. You can access the town from four of the wall's 16 towers. • We were on new year's Eve 2016/2017 in Dinkelsbühl and were able to admire the beautiful old town at best winter weather. Here, there are still many beautiful half-timbered houses and beautiful small individual shops to see. Very nice, I found the uniform appearance of all shops in the historic style (such as were all business names in old German script).

  • Located in the region the Germans call it Romantic Route, this small town is very nice is well preserved. Quiet and calm, has good restaurants and is a great option for a day trip out of Frankfurt.

  • A medieval town with all the romantic attractions. The city is walled, with several entire houses in half-timbered style. In the medieval buildings she is wonderful.
