Old Town, Dinkelsbuhl
Categories: Historic Walking Areas, Tourist Spots
As one of the only remaining walled medieval towns in Germany, Dinkelsbühl's Old Town paints a strong image of the Middle Ages through its streets, churches, and buildings. In the heart of the Romantic Road, the town was a former free imperial city of the Holy Roman Empire and has remarkably remained unscathed during the World Wars. The charming historic center houses mercantile buildings from the 15th and 16th centuries. Other notable attractions here include the gothic St. George's Minster, the Castle of the Teutonic Order, and the Historical Museum. You can access the town from four of the wall's 16 towers.
