  • In the rather little-known small town stands outside the Centre (South) this featured church with four altars. The most important of which is now more than 500 years old of Mary's altar by Tilman Riemenschneider, probably his main work. This important work of medieval sculpture impressed still with its overall design and delicate implementation of illustrated stories. In contrast to the usually crowded, restive Rothenburg o. d. Tauber (nearby) is quietly here - and you can enjoy the unique combination of wood and sunlight. Parking spaces available.

  • The Church of Jesus Christ is popular especially among the cyclists are traveling on the Tauber Valley of Wertheim to Rothenburg. After a short detour (from everywhere well signposted) one can let here the Mary's altar by Tilman Riemenschneider in peace. In particular the Group of apostles with expressive faces did it to me. Very nice effects arise depending on the position of the Sun, when details are highlighted through the window. In particular the miracle of light is striking, if by the 15th August August 31 from 17: 00 the light through a window directly to Mary in the Riemenschneider altar. Open April to October around 9:15 to 18: 00, winter 13 until 16: 00. Worth seeing also the Fingerhut Museum in the vicinity as a rarity.

  • Truly one of the great experiences of late medieval European art is contained within the un-assuming Hergottskirke. Enter and be transported back in time!
  • The Riemenschneider altar is simply breathtaking. The delicate braids! The finely detailed characters! Everything goes to the outer limits of what is capable to provide wood. And all handmade! Over the beautiful altar, but should not have to overlook the rest of the Church. In addition to three other remarkable altars, it offers some other historic treasures. There is also an interesting electronic information system: you log in to an open Wi-Fi and can then through the Church distribution QR codes retrieve information about individual exhibits.
