  • If you only have one day in Cologne, in my opinion, it's worth choosing this particular Museum. This building is the former Gestapo prison. Unfortunately, since nothing survived, so the floors of exhibit-photos and documents. But in the basement of the preserved cells where prisoners were sitting. On the walls of abandoned records, many of them made in Russian. Of course, it's tough to read. Be sure to take the audioguide, it costs 2 euros. Without it, the Museum will be just "hanging out" and nothing will. Audioguide in Russian, very complete. I spent two hours in the Museum, unfortunately, has not been able to listen, just because tired. If you come back in Cologne, necessarily going again.

  • This is a definite must if you're coming to Cologne. The entrance fee is only €4.50! If you don't speak any German I strongly recommend you get the audio guide (€2). The museum has interesting informa...  more »
  • If you are interested in all it related with the party nazi, is the site perfect. There are audio-guides in Spanish and you can visit in the basement cells of the Gestapo.

  • Very interesting museum with slightly different point of view. I would really suggest this to anyone, who is interested at this topic. Only one part of the exhibition contains English texts, so understanding can be difficult if one does cannot read German. Hopefully everything will be translated at some point.
  • This is a really interesting place to go if you are interested in history. Too bad the first floor is the only one with english text.
  • Very interesting - well set out exhibition. Clearly explained in English.
  • I was really touched by the displays at the museum here. Not since my tour of Dachau many years ago did I feel the pain and torment people who lived through such a horrible time in our society. The Gestapo prison in the basement is incredible: this place is almost completely the same as it was in the 1940s when it was in use. It survived Allied bombing and was then used for storage until recently when it was converted into a museum. Because of this, the ORIGINAL graffiti from the prisoners who were kept here is still there. It is sobering to look into the cells and see the original drawings, poems, or calendars that the prisoners scrawled on the walls to keep hope alive or pass the time. What's more, is that the museum has gone through pain-staking detail to find the prisoners who were here and have them tell their story next to their cell and graffiti. An incredible feat. Highly recommended, and it only costs around 7 EUR (I believe).
  • A fascinating museum with excellent tours. A must-see for those interested in the history of Cologne.
