Hohenzollern Bridge, Cologne
(4.3/5 based on 1,800+ reviews on the web)
At 409.2 m (1,342.5 ft) long, Hohenzollern Bridge serves as a major crossing over the Rhine river. Nearly 1,200 trains cross the river here each day, making it Germany's most heavily used railway bridge. Wander across the Rhine for sweeping views of the rest of the city on both banks. You can't miss the famous Cologne Cathedral. Be sure to look for the many "love locks" adorning the bridge railings. These fairly new padlocks are supposed to bring hopeful couples good luck. The original bridge was destroyed during World War II. The impressive metal structure you see now was built in 1948. • following the tradition of many bridges in the world, here you can see lots of padlocks that seal promises of love or friendship. very curious! the best thing for me is the view you have from the bridge to the Cathedral

  • You can't visit Cologne without checking out this bridge and taking a few photos. Maybe even add a padlock if you wish.
  • It is a good idea to walk over the bridge at sunset, it is curious to see that is FILLED with padlocks. But for my it best are the views from the other side of the bridge, with the Cathedral of background, a penalty that the time not accompany all
