Hohenzollern Bridge, Cologne

(4.3/5 based on 1,900+ reviews on the web)
At 409.2 m (1,342.5 ft) long, Hohenzollern Bridge serves as a major crossing over the Rhine river. Nearly 1,200 trains cross the river here each day, making it Germany's most heavily used railway bridge. Wander across the Rhine for sweeping views of the rest of the city on both banks. You can't miss the famous Cologne Cathedral. Be sure to look for the many "love locks" adorning the bridge railings. These fairly new padlocks are supposed to bring hopeful couples good luck. The original bridge was destroyed during World War II. The impressive metal structure you see now was built in 1948. • Destroyed in the war. Rebuilt. Today the square of 1000's of love locks. Beautiful view.

  • The Hohenzollernbrücke (because then we should call it Bridge? mystery) crosses the Rhine in Cologne's city centre, just a short distance from the famous cathedral and the train station. The proportions of the bridge are certainly notable, due to the width of the River, which at least in Italy it is little used. A walk from one shore to the other allows you to have beautiful views over the Rhine and is feasible even if it passes in Cologne for a short time, but all in all I would not call it a must-see attraction, especially since the fifties and recently involgarito with so many padlocks that kids who don't have better things to do attach themselves to a holder. Unfortunately the deportation procedures are not only in Rome ...

  • Take a photo in the picture taking with Bridge and the Cathedral. In the Guidebook you often see. I crossed this bridge on the train.
