Hohenzollern Bridge, Cologne

(2,000+ reviews on the web)
Bridge
At 409.2 m (1,342.5 ft) long, Hohenzollern Bridge serves as a major crossing over the Rhine river. Nearly 1,200 trains cross the river here each day, making it Germany's most heavily used railway bridge. Wander across the Rhine for sweeping views of the rest of the city on both banks. You can't miss the famous Cologne Cathedral. Be sure to look for the many "love locks" adorning the bridge railings. These fairly new padlocks are supposed to bring hopeful couples good luck. The original bridge was destroyed during World War II. The impressive metal structure you see now was built in 1948. • everyone who visits here leaves padlocks attached, we did 5 all linked actually one for each member of our family, the bridge is so long, allow plenty of time to view and take pictures  more »
  • What can we say to the Hohenzollern bridge? She is the most famous bridge in Cologne (or also in Germany?) and covered with the love locks. Weekends continuous operation is so crowded here. To have a photo here, but is a must.

  • The Hohenzollern bridge is the Cathedral just a stone's throw away. A walk over the bridge is worth (just great weather). The numerous love locks are really worth seeing and the banks of the Rhine is located on the opposite side of the Cathedral. Just when the sun shines you can here after a long sightseeing or shopping trip a little relax. Should you have no own drinks or snacks here, provides a Pavilion above the physical well-being of the Hyatt Hotel. Urlaubsfeeling pure for me! Next time, I'm bringing a castle ;)

  • Very nice and romantic place. Perfect for dates. I recomment sitting next to Rhine River and watching the ships pass by.
  • Nice place to chill after going through the city. Near the main train station. Has thousands of "love locks" .
  • It's a lovely place to go for a walk, with the railway walled by lovelocks to one side of the path. Once you get to the opposite side from the train station you get a fantastic vista of Cologne with the cathedral in the background that makes for a fantastic photo opportunity. It's been rebuilt since the war to the original iconic arched design, so that you'd never know it had been destroyed at all.
  • A pretty cool bridge, especially for train lovers. Cool statues of the Hohenzollerns on each of the four corners. Also the love lock bridge and thousands upon thousands of locks on it.
  • Very nice and romantic place with beautiful view at the city, on the Dom and on thw river. During nigh it is lighted. Good place for walk and makr pictures. There is a lot of lockers put on the bridge which is making very nice impression.
