Where to stay in Cologne

The Ring is a semicircular area around the edge of the city's walls from Chlodwigplatz to Ebertplatz. Along the semicircle are hotel chains and boutique accommodations that offes ready access to the city center on foot or via a short metro ride. For access to nightlife, consider the Südstadt area known for its rock bars, cocktails, and theaters. The luxury accommodations in the elegant Friesenviertel area often attracts local celebrities. Search for lodging deals in the Nippes area, which is away from the busy center and known for its local character.

  • Worth a visit - things you will only see here.....
  • I don't find this square as good as most of people. It's obvious that it was totally reconstructed after II World War. There are numerous cafes, but the entire place has no charm. There are many nicer squares in the nearest area.
  • One of the best Christmas markets in Cologne is held here. Pretty much conjoined with the Christmas market at the Heumarkt area. Has lots of great food, drinks and shops. There's also an ice skating rink and a place to play curling. Lots of restaurants, cafes and bars are located within the area so you aren't short of options. Stone's throw away from the Dom too.
  • Not as spectacular as I was hoping, wander through but don't go out of your way expecting something amazing
  • Good shopping centre with a range of shops to suit all pockets, right in the main area of Cologne's shopping district. Worth a visit.
