  • On a rainy day in February, we visited Kreismuseum Wewelsburg. First of all we are going to have lunch at the bistro belonging to the museum and the Castle. Here you can fine food, cheap and high quality dishes. The Wewelsburg Castle was built in the shape of a triangle and for 2/3 to visit for tourists. The Castle serves as a War Memorial (where in the castle of nothing), as a museum and youth hostel. On the same site are the ' ideology und Terror of the SS ' museum, where we do not visit. This stands for in the future certainly still on the schedule. In the castle is a lot to see, especially interesting are the cellars, where you can actually in can. By going through the halls you will get interesting history lessons and you have the chance to enjoy the beautiful views. The castle is pretty entertaining for children. Through the many steps and narrow corridors can be difficult for wheelchair users. In the restaurant can not be gepint, in both museums can be pinned on site from a certain amount.

  • The museum is very open for everyone, for (young) childeren and adults. The collection is big, astonishing and in very good shape. One can learn a lot about the castle's and local/regional history. Nice settings and displays and a huge amount of information. Reserve enough time of you want to see everything, roughly between 3 to 6 hours depending your interests. In a separate part of the castle a exposition about the Schutzstaffel, or SS, has been set up. One can read and see a lot about the bizarre and unbelievable backgrounds of Heinrich Himmler's elite Nazi soliders during WW2 and therefore this exhibition is less suitable for young childeren. Note that there are strict rules on your behaviour during your visit. For an indepth view 2 or 3 hours are needed. This museum and exposition about the infamous SS combined together for a price of €3,- is exceptionally low and worth every cent.
  • I love this castle ☺️ what a beautiful place. Lots of history from this castle. I really want to see the Schwarze Sunne ( Black Sun) on the floor.
  • Amazing little castle was used as the SS HQ during WW2 and was going to be the new center of Europe if the Nazis won the war Lots of history in and around the town as well.
  • Amazing history.
  • Beautiful place
