  • The building was erected between 1894 and 1900 according to the plans of city architect Ludwig Winter in the neo Gothic style. The City Hall Tower is 61 metres high and can be climbed after registration. The handles on the doors of the main portal show scenes and persons related to Brunswick and its history in connection. So Eulenspiegel and his monkeys and owls find themselves till, as the Brunswick originals the harp-Agnes and RECHE-August. More handles refer to Carl Friedrich Gauß, the Braunschweiger Mumme, the Brunswick photo industry and the Braunschweig Lions.

  • The old town hall is a very beautiful and representative building with a very nice Hall for receptions and events.

  • The neo-Gothic building was built in the period from 1894 to 1900 by the then city architect Ludwig Winter. You can climb 161 steps up to a height of 61 metres and great views. The first 100 levels of stone in a narrow stairway are quickly overcome, and then three flights of stairs with approx. 20 stages, open at the bottom - to realize even with fear of heights. The town hall entrance is decorated with rich tracery Windows. The ascent of the tower is free of charge. You will contact the gatekeeper at the Porter's lodge and this opens a locked door for those interested.
