Wendelstein, Brannenburg
(4.5/5 based on 90+ reviews on the web)
See a mountain both inside and up high at Wendelstein. A zippy cable car can take you to the top of the 1,838 m (6,030 ft) mountain, or you can choose the slower rack railway through tunnels and over bridges all the way up. The lookout platform on the top station terrace provides a remarkable view of the Central Alps. The Wendelstein church up top offers religious services. You can tour the peek, or explore the cave, which reaches 300 m (984ft) into the mountain. The Geo-Park provides information about geological history, while the observatory at the summit teaches about astronomy. The mountain even has a ski area for advanced skiers, as well as a restaurant and a souvenir kiosk. • If you like a great view hike, train or cable car up to the top of the Wendelstein. In my opinion, the best time to visit the mountain is in the Fall on a sunny day when the air is cool and clear. Dre...  more »
  • Incredibly, we were lucky with the weather, we had a vision of more than 90 km, which was quite fantastic!. Above there is still a sun terrace of the restaurant, the climb to the Summit (ca 120 meters above good way & stairs), a mountain Chapel next to the breathtaking views (unfortunately just closed), a cave (2 euro extra), overlooking the number cycling track and the large gondola. Both means to the Summit without effort. Definitely worth a visit, if the weather cooperates. We found it very nice! Different hiking trails lead up to it, so anyone who may run is certainly a way.

  • The Cog Railway up the mountain, it is incomparably better than with the gondola. The surcharge is worth it, especially for those with mild fear of heights. The mountain station is connected to a lit means smaller Rock Tunnel to the Berggasthof, there is not another way out. People with extreme claustrophobia should know that. The plant is Alpine modern and offers a very nice trip experience, who can, should ascend to the Summit - secure way - only for those! The panorama is here at its best
