Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Bochum
(4.6/5 based on 100+ reviews on the web)
Make sure your camera is fully charged for your visit of Ruhr-Universität Bochum, a sprawling nature lover's paradise covering an area of more than 13 hectares (32 acres). The garden was founded in 1968 and has been continuously expanded and improved. Opened to the public in 1971, the garden now includes tropical, alpine, desert, and savannah houses, as well as a large Chinese garden laid out in a southern Chinese style. Set aside plenty of time to explore the garden's fenced outdoor areas, where plants grow organized into geobotanical regions, such as forests, coasts, meadows, prairies, and marshes. The garden's greenhouses shelter hundreds of species of tropical, subtropical, and alpine plants. • Granted, large parts of the RUB look as if the architects directly from Mordor! However, the Botanical Garden is worth a visit above repeatedly, the Chinese garden, a donation of Tongji University, using original parts. A real jewel of Oriental garden architecture! But other parts of the Park are worth noting and welcoming. The greenhouses are an alternative for bad weather days.

  • The Botanical Garden of Bochum is located directly at the University of Bochum. You can go well with the U35 and then walk 10 min. There is much and many small ways to see in the garden, so you can often enjoy the fauna. We were there in the autumn and have enjoyed the colors of the trees. In the spring we will be on-site, to consider the development.

  • Even in winter, the Botanical Garden of the University of the Ruhr is maintained and transformed literally into a wintry miracle. The ideal place to relax and stroll in the middle of the stressful Ruhr :-)
