  • Bochum railway museum took over the old järnvägsverstäderna in 1977 in Bochum-Dahlhausen after they closed down and is the largest private railway museum in Germany with its 46 000 m ² surface and 120 locomotives and wagons in varying condition. Part of the Route der Industriekultur im Ruhrgebiet ". This is a perfect playground for adults, especially if you take the opportunity to make the visit during Museum day in september with lots of visitors and with lots of gadgets (especially old signs), books, beer and grilled sausages on sale. At the station there is a large photo exhibition as well as a workplace for a dispatcher from the early ' 70s. On the old railway yard arrows a steam train back and forth during the lively puffing, an old diesel locomotives pulling out and showing the beautiful steam room on the turntable while another diesel locomotive driving passengers to and from the "real" station 1.5 km away. Children can enjoy a ride in an old narrow gauge mining railroad. Here it is easy to spend a whole day and the visit is worth a long detour – but the entire family may not have the same opinion ... PS. good parking facilities are available nearby (at least during the Museum's days).

  • We have factored the Museum as a full-day excursion. And that was good. The area is huge, whether outdoors or indoors, there was enough to see we as correct eisenbahnfreunde, came fully on our costs. You can visit numerous locomotives and wagons. In many sets, even levels and a small scaffolding are attached that children at the Windows can see inside. Very interesting, at that time looked like the compartments, and is represented as the work of a locomotive engineer and heater. Trolleys also were exhibited in the Roundhouse could make a short trip with a "pit"dog. Disengages, there is a room with a beverage and snack vending machines. There are some souvenirs at reasonable prices as a reminder to take.

  • It was worth a trip. The visits of the locomotives were class. A ride with the old locomotive was super. The last ride is probably on 10/31.

  • It was an okay museum. I guess I am just not enough of a railway enthusiast to really appreciate it. They have lots of different trains, so if that is what you want to see, then go. I was a bit surprised they had no cafeteria but a couple of vending machines with chocolate bars and bad coffee.
  • Excelent display of the best railway company in the world...!!. I´m sure I´ll come back again!!.
  • Really well preserved Museum. I liked that you "could go into some railways" and you got a great insight into the various carriages and the driver cabin. So, you also saw how people have worked earlier to get the steam locomotive ride. It felt like in the old days back offset. It was a great experience.

  • Train museum located in Bochum. One locomotive in DB locomotive. Tilt/Swivel base is just around the corner is looking GOOD. And old-style tickets or tickets to Germany who is trendy, and admire. Without the particular route, take the train that Nice. So have a little distance from the train station and walk.

  • Perhaps, the Museum is great. Tolerant to pregnant women on the toilet must definitely not. Full admission or no toilet. That was just glad my child also wouldn't have to. Service desert Germany.
